Default MIME Type Help

I recently switched my webhost and when I added this string (AddType application/x-httpd-php .html .htm) in .htaccess file, it returned with a 500 Internal Server error. I tried it manually with MIME Types in cpanel but same error. I need to know a way badly so that .htm files work as .php files.
