Is it worth all the extra trouble to try and get into dmoz? I've heard conflicting opinions on this all it would be nice if someone could clarify this all little

I don't think so.
DMOZ hasn't been worth it in ages as there editors are lazy and some even try to scam money out of people who submit their website to it.

Well thats probably because its so well known and because it doesn't seem to be easy to get in anymore... thats if you can get into it anymore.

Yes its worth because if you have submitted your site once than it would be appear in like 6months - 1year.
