Yes its not going to die but with all that softwares available nowadays to replace simple html commands its use is certainly going to be reduced. Wont go extinct i am sure

You are true. It is facing its existence these days. But for any lame user, they can understand HTML because it is such a simple language. I was a lot more happier when i studied this subject and designed my web page. It was great. But the advanced concepts have went a long way ahead then HTML.

HTML is still being used for web pages these days...

HTML is not dieing but you can say all designers are not using it much. Also I think it needs a lot of improvement so that designers like me can use it for security purposes, web designing etc.

Yeah i think i will agree with one of the replies that if you are a 1st time user. You will definetely try your hand on HTML because its cool and easy and simple but then naturally to enhance your creative capabilities you will jump to others.
