Default What is Web 2.0 design?

I would like to ask this question since I saw experienced webmasters and webdesigners using this "Web 2.0" thing a lot.

I don't understand what it really means when talking about webdesign, would you explain this to me please?

Web 2.0 is something relative. It's not really a stable thing. You can't say you have a Web 2.0 design. Simply Put, Web 2.0 design is the design that has the effects of modern design software, adapted to suite the needs of clients ( to have a high CTR influence, a good looking header etc..). That's my point of view. The ideas may vary from person to person.

I would say that Web 2.0 are sites about user interaction. For example, Digg uses it's users to submit sites, and stumble upon to review sites. They also have pretty simple designs often.

I say that you are all blinded by what you see.

web 2.0 is a term used for the current web technology (the CSS 2, XML, JavaScript 1.8 and the likes) which are not present before.

if you read the wiki article, you'll know it IS NOT JUST that.

if you have a webdesign that dynamically loads content (instead of open the content on another page and another and another), then you have a web 2.0 design.

you really need to read the web 2.0 and the technologies underlying it.

Best example is the youtube's reply or more-from-user interaction.

It is because, making a website that is 2.0 much harder than plain PHP-generated HTMLs -- I mean the three-tier web apps.

like I said, its not the site but the technology the webdesigners/developers ought to use(which is coined, web 2.0).

poll on which user wants:
1. simple design
2. cool design

If you see a site that loads a content "dynamically", meaning it does not refresh to a new content then it is a site that uses the web 2.0.

There is actually no definition for web 2.0, it is just one of the catch phrase of Internet.
But as web has evolved, sites have become more easier to use, it has become more interactive, giving users the power to write the content. It is just user generated content.
Web 2.0 sites include Wiki, Youtube, Social networking sites and many sites which are easier to use and interactive.

Design for Web 2.0. In preparing for the informal chat we had among ourselves and with the audience, we prepared a list of questions to consider.
