Default Php Coding for websites

Now a days a lot of websites are using php coding!
Forums, cms etc are totally built on php as php offers fexibility and database connectivity.
Are any one of use still using normall html, because about 3 years back I was using just html coded templates and used to manually add stuff.

What would you prefer html or php? and how many of you guys actually know phpthat well to make a website using php?

In a web environment, I can't live without php, especially the larger the site is.

However I used to also code using just HTML a few years back. You've got to keep in mind that a lot of sites have a html foundation and use php just for dynamic variables. This allows you to achieve a lot more with them.

However when I was working for a web design firm we were forced to use HTML templating with no php code because the clients all needed small business non-dynamic sites and php was too hard to collaborate with in a work environment and still keep people on the same page. But it still drove me crazy to be confined to HTML templates rather than an application backend for each site.

There are a lot of client who still use static Html pages rather that dynamic ones, because they have different applications to it.
A site where you need to manage users, posts etc you need to have a database to deal with it and the best to deal with it is php.
Asp to some extent is good but never used it. I had learnt it though.
Has anyone used asp scripting for their pages?

I have used ASP yes, it was for a college project a few years back and I found it awful to use. I tried to apply it on my own sites but UNIX servers don't even support it! PHP is my preference, perhaps it is a matter of what you find easier though.

well.. there is no comparison between html and php as far as I think. It depends what kind of functionality you require. PHP is easir than anyother serverside scripting language that 's why it grew so much in no time. I write php code embeded in html, as I guess most of us do.

My expertise is on customization.

Every client I handled wanted the same content but different features. Here's what I do.

I do HTML on prototyping. if client is satisfied, I add the features.
for animations. plain simple.
for dynamism, I use PHP.
for hybrid. I use both.
