I am not believing in automated link building, this is totally useless. You can increase your backlinks but you can loose moreover then, like search engine reputation, conversion traffic etc. In short, search engine don't like automated submission, so just concentration on manual, it is better then automated.

Err.. yes and no. Automation can be put in two ways. One is to use it for link blasting purposes (mass submissions on blogs/ directories) which is not a good strategy since it alarms SE’s of manipulation. Other is to use automation as an aid to find good sources of link building and doing submissions manually.
I am of the opinion that automation should only assist your efforts - not do the link building for you.

Creating good content is the best way of "automatic link building"

I don't prefer the automatic link building. Manually submission is better than automated.

if u mean to submit your website to auto submitters for getting links, i would highly dis-recommend it, just don't go for any automatic back link getter or stuff like that just build quality links and don't emphasize on quantity

Manual link is better and the best one.

think automation, or at least semi-automation, is extremely important if not essential in Internet Marketing. Especially if you're using wordpress, there's just no reason not to automate a portion of your publish+promote process. Even if it's as simple as setting up a Ping.fm account or Onlywire account, I think it really helps.

I actually just answered this in another thread, but what I do is this:

#1. My RSS feeds into Hootsuite which feeds to Ping.fm

#2. Publish on Wordpress -> Re-publish on Posterous (which publishes to many other Web 2.0s) -> Publish to EzineArticles using WP Plugin (not quite automation, but fast)

Those are 2 pretty simple, but still effective semi-auto backlink strategies that are completely free to implement.
