Yes, those are spammers..Try to collect quality effective backlinks for a website for getting a good results in the search engines

1000 links and few days not help your rankings. Spamming always banned by search engine. Do it manually.

Of course it is possible. If Matt Cutts posts on his blog there every chance it will have a thousand links in a few HOURS never mind days.

my advice, never go for such deals or links, coz they do harm instead of any good, try to get backlinks from good ranked website by commenting and be generic, that would help you rank good in search engines as well...
