Pagerank plays no role in SERPS. The only use pagerank really has is for selling links (or placing higher in some directories..lol)..So it's all about quality unique content and backlinks

you are talking about 2 different things completely.Ultimately both are important, but for different reasons.

PR does not matter in keyword position in search engine. content is also important for a page rank of a website.

i think pr does not matter in the search engine results, because many times we see that some websites are on the top in the search engine results with less pr while for the same keywords some websites comes down in the search results with high pr

He is talking about 2 different things, but pr does matter with backlinks and serp's. A link from a high pr page will help you site more than a link from low pr page and will help you get higher ranks.
