Has anyone bought any marketplace scripts to run on their site? I am thinking of starting an online marketplace similar to Sitepoint (they seem to be popular and earn well). I am pondering whether to go with a custom solution or a pre-packaged one. Any advice?

I haven't seen a script like Sitepoint is using for their marketplace. I think it is custom made. You can always find a web developer at this freelance website who can do the job for you.

Yeah I'm thinking of doing that, but I don't want to pay thousands for it if there is a script out there...

Does anyone know how much a freelancer would want for that kind of functionality?
