Just wondering what you guys think is the best directory script to play with, modify and add functions to.
Don't tell me about PLD (phplinkdirectory). I look at it and the PHP code is a nightmare.
The way they wrote the code is so complicated and I hate how they used the smarty template functions. It could have been done way simpler.

Basically, I want to get a free directory script and customize to my needs. The script has to be coded well and easy to customize.

free directory scripts? I don't know, you can do a search in google or yahoo~

I used phpld for a short time and found it to be a great directory script. I am stiil keeping my license for future use just because it will be useful sometime. I wrote a mod or two for phpld, so let me know what you might need in the way of mods.

Try cplinks for a free script, it looks simple and it's free to test. Try the dynalinks version:
