Default forum or blog?

Lots of people dream to earn online and for this sole purpose many people have their websites. Most of the ways to earn from a website demand certain level of hits. I wonder which attracts quick user's attention: forum or blog?

IMO blogs, I started one and got 1,000+ visits a month easily, where as I've started forums and had trouble getting visitors. People post a lot with the excitement of a new forum, but then it wears off and goes dead. Blogs on the other hand seem more SEO friendly and provide a greater revenue (in my experience).

Blog of course. Blogs is easier to maintain. Forum is not a bad idea but you need to work harder if you're starting one.

Ok, I agree that blogs are easier to manage, what about the posts on the blog? I mean you have to be creative and unique while posting content on blog? Isn't time consuming whereas forums are not that time consuming to manage? what do you think?

Creating blog posts can be time consuming but blogs are easier to promote than forums. Forums usually takes a lot of time and extra effort to gain a good amount of traffic since you have to attract visitors and members to make it an 'active' discussion area.

I agree with aira, its exactly the same thing am currently facing. i write a blog post and submit it to few sites and then traffic starts coming but the same doesn't go for forums there's lot of promotions needed to be done and getting users to posts is the major problem.

My vote would have to go with blogs as well. So long as you provide relevant, unique and useful content in you niche, you won't go wrong. Blogs are also easier to maintain and you get to control what gets publish or not.

I would say a blog. I think people are more likely to visit a blog, as it's pretty much an article, rather than a discussion. Now, I think a forum can be better though, depending on the subject.
