Default Change forum skin once in a while?

Do you think it is a good idea to change a forum skin once in a while to give a new look to the forum?
Or is it better to stick with the skin that your members are used to for the life of the forum?

Yes, I believe it's a good idea because you can get tired of the skin after using it for awhile. However, I don't think you should change it every month, because then your forum will lose part of its identity. Probably every 6 months or so is a good timeframe for changing the skin.

And if you do change your skin, you could always keep the original one as another style for those who like the good ol' days.

This links to this in a way.

It is probably a good idea to give your users a "fresh change' every now and then. I'm not talking once a week, or once a month, I'm speaking roughly once a year.
Not only does it make the site look like love and care is going in, but it also gives veteran members bragging rights, "I have been here since styleID1", and comments that relate.

Offering new skin once in a while is a good idea. But I wouldn't replace the old skin, just add a new one and make it default, while keeping the old one. Some people don't like changes.

And you do that once every 6 months over a span on 2 years, you have 4 skins.
Not only is that 4 different skins your users are using, it is 4 different skins your need to update and edit every mod you install.

Multiple skins are a pain in the ass. In my opinion, have the one skin, but 2 different shades to satisfy the dark/light lovers, and just edit and update them.
Easy done.

I think you should add a new skin once in a while, but leave it up to the members whether or not to use the new skin or to stick with the old skin, this way, people who like the old one can stay with it and those who don't can switch to the new one.

Also a variety of colors and types is nice for choice.

I don't know. Most of the forums I visit, I am not there for the pretty sight layout and it would annoy me if everything changed all of a sudden. Keep it simple and do some small changes every once in a while.
