How long did it take for your forum to take off???

For those who run successful communities, how long did it take for your forum to take off???

Took my forum about a year to get respectable level of activity, mind you we not yet big yet. However considering the highly competitive niche I am in, it’s a good start.

I think three months are enough to get the real user's attention if your fourm got valuable and interesting content, people would definately come to your site.
All it needs is the proper planning and marketing.

Depends on your niche and forum activity. Also depends on how well you market your forum.

I know it will take a while for my forum to get up, I need to get a few friends to join, get their friends joining, etc. and I should be good.

Depends on the opposition too, for example, KS took off because the only other trading website solely focusing on online account trades is a dud.

My forum took off in just 2 weeks!

2 weeks, man I wish. I am not counting on having any significant traffic for at least 6-7 months.

3 days. It lasted a year then burnt out. It's starting to get popular again but nowhere near its old highs.
