I like the way that the topics in this forum have friendly URLs however I cannot figure out how to do it on my forum. Is it a plug-in for vb?

Does anyone know if it is possible to convert php document variables on a non-CMS based site to friendly URLs?

tho, you can easily make one.
1. make a HTML template that will have a single frame.
2. get the thread-ID and title of the newly created thread
3. copy the HTML template and replace the title with the taken info.
4. make sure to change the link source to the non-friendly URL of the newly created thread

NOTE: all should be done automatically by a make a PHP script.

I don't understand step 4. I query the db for the title - but then how do I get it to set that to the actual server URL. For example instead of /index.php?id=8593 how do you change it to /a-new-page.html?

oh sorry. I meant, change the link in the html-source (which has a "single-frame"). the link will be the non-friendly URL of the newly created thread.

the idea is to wrap the non-friendly URL of the thread inside an HTML file (which is supposed to be more friendly URL).

It's expensive (almost as much as vb itself). Is it worth it? I have a pretty inactive board (many guest visitors but few posts/registrations), do you think vbseo would help improve forum activity significantly enough for it's pricetag?

To be perfectly honest. No it won't improve user activity one little bit.

Getting rid of session id's and reducing the querystring count will often improve the spider activity, but it won't do anything for the users.
