Default Google buys recaptcha!

Google have announced they have purchased reCAPTCHA, a tool used to prevent bots from auto registering, posting spam, etc.

Official google announcement can be found at:

That's just so weird. I know reCaptcha is used on many websites but how exactly is Google planning on making money with this tool.
For those who don't know, reCAPTCHA was originally developed by Carnegie Mellon University.

I wonder what this means? I remember when google got into the domain registration business. What will they do with this? If it cuts down on spammers, it's fine by me!

Well, I think Google is starting to monopolize everything. One more thing, Google buys threats and sites that has the big potential to be a threat.

hi Jenie,
Good points. I think this is more about control, and gaining more information for it's massive databases... I can't see how recaptcha would pose any threat or competition. No, I think it is all about control and more information. I guess we shall see!

Yes I would agree.Google is already into everything that is found in the internet.Starting from search, advertising, mail, hosting, maps, etc.I'm sure they won't leave anything.

I just found this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...ions_by_Google
