Default Internet users could be banned over illegal downloads

Just so you know, there is proposed legislation in the UK to ban internet users from the internet for illegal downloads.
I wonder how they'll enforce that!!!

Quote:
People who illegally download films and music will be cut off from the internet under new legislative proposals to be unveiled next week.

Internet service providers (ISPs) will be legally required to take action against users who access pirated material, The Times has learnt.

Users suspected of wrongly downloading films or music will receive a warning e-mail for the first offence, a suspension for the second infringement and the termination of their internet contract if caught a third time, under the most likely option to emerge from discussions about the new law.

Broadband companies who fail to enforce the “three-strikes” regime would be prosecuted and suspected customers’ details could be made available to the courts. The Government has yet to decide if information on offenders should be shared between ISPs.

For those of us who are addicted to the Internet, it is hard to imagine life without being able to go online

hope that they will not be able to block the download on the internet. cause every thing will be expensive to download if they will be able to do that.

Thats why I'm not worried.
I'll just hack some random persons internet, I dont care lol.

I dont think this sort of thing would be too effective, also, it would GREATLY disadvantage the innocent.

For instance, I download the latest Kayne West album off limewire, so i'm banned from the internet.
My little sister jumps on the net, and realizes that she cant access the internet due to a ban.
She fails her school assignment.

Also, Mr. X goes to Gaming Rift (internet cafe), and downloads music from rapidshare, and the ISP bans the 2 industrial internet lines.
People loose account data.
Company goes out of business.
SOOO many parties are out of money.

I dont think it would be worth simply banning people... the internet is supposed to be anonymous and free, information is free and so should everything else.
In this day in age, you can get programs resembling top-dollar programs, and imagine if there was a way to get money of giving all this away for free (and there is), wouldn't that be MUCH better?

I highly doubt they will be able to enforce this. The internet wouldnt be what it is without its bad side. It couldnt survive without it either.

I think this is too hard to enforce and will ruin internet business as Jacob said.
