I dont think so. Google is the best. Noone can overtake google among users. Not msn, not yahoo.

MSN does try to catch up with Google but it seems they are loosing the battle. The search results are often of poor quality which is a point which Microsoft engineers seem to have great problems fixing.

Some experts said that MSN will overtake Google in the next 5 years.

The reason is that with every PC installed, there's an IE. With every IE, the default homepage will be MSN.

Not everyone is search engine savvy, so MSN tends to grab market share in this manner.

It not possible at all because the algorithm of Live Search is much more weaker than the Google Search. Thats why spammy sites easily get on top by using black hat techniques which isn't easy at Google Search. Google always maintain the quality.

one thing i have learnt while dabbling in the internet market, is dont mess with google i dont think anything can beat google thats why there take the pi** and can do what they want, when they want.

Noone can even stop them - stupid how 1 company can have such a dictatorship over a market but good job on them for getting that way

i don't think google has anything to fear for a long long time. why? they are a household name, google is a verb, MSN isn't. if you need to find something out on the internet you don't say well i will go type that into a search engine and look at my findings. you says hmm let me go google it. google has done such a great job at getting out there and taking the market share that they even invaded our vocabulary. it's like the department stores of our time. there's kmart, target, meijer, and whatever other stores, but walmart has nothing to fear(unfortunately).

One of the major problems that the engineers are facing at Microsoft is that their search engine results are often considered to be week and spammy. They are trying to fix that for some time already and until they can provide great results, I can't see how they can catch up with Google any time soon.
