Default Windows XP going off the market in June

That's it. Microsoft will stop selling the Windows XP operating system in June 30, 2008.
Some people have launched an online petition to ask Microsoft not to pull the XP operation system (http://weblog.infoworld.com/save-xp/)

Quote:
Will Windows XP really no longer be on sale after June 30? Sorry for the double negative, but no. All this means is that Microsoft will stop selling the OS. Finding a computer with XP preinstalled will likely be very difficult, as well. However, you'll still be able to find copies for the foreseeable future, and likely the unforeseeable one, too. See for yourself: You can find copies of just about any Microsoft product, including ancient versions of Windows and even MS-DOS, by simply searching online. But hang on to your current copy of Windows XP. You may need it down the road if you don't want to move to Vista.

Easy enough solution, containing one word.

Linux.

But seriously, removing XP is stupid, i'm glad im switching to Linux.

As far as I know Vista is more expensive than XP and, of course, has higher system requirements. So by removing XP they're forcing regular users to buy new PCs! That just sucks!
I had Kubuntu on my PC and I liked it. My internet connection is unstable in Windows but it was very good in Kubuntu. However, I had some problems with it and I had to stick to XP.

Linux is a fair option to switch to, of course, theres also that devil... Mac. But I'm very happy with XP, so what they won't be selling it, I already have it!

We just have to wait for the new release of windows to come out. I'm confident most Potential XP buyers will switch to Mac or Linux and not buy Vista because its so terrible.

Actually, I like Windows Vista. To be honest, I like things like it - more colors, more shades, transparency. I can make such things with KDE and Beryl, but the problem is simply that most programs are designed for Windows, and also, there are many Linux distros, some are completely different one from another. Meanwhile Vista supports a lot of applications, therefore it is a good choice. Many people would buy it because of that. Then more applications are made for Windows, more people buy it because of them and so on... Here, in Bulgaria, most people download software and very few buy it. If we have to buy it, however, I bet less people would have computers (and only those that really need them, the others would have PlayStation ) and they would use Linux. I can't say anything about Mac, I've never touched one, I only know it is pretty expensive here.

Well, I’ve been thinking about upgrading to a new PC anyway, so perhaps it’s time to bite the bullet and get a bundled deal.

I have had linux for about 4 months now. I switched from XP. Ubuntu and debian are the nicest in my eyes. I also have a mac book with OSX. DOWN WITH WINDOWS :P Seriously though, linux is the future because they go by what their community want

Well, since XP is going off the market, and vista is terrible...

Dell is going to bridge the gap between xp coming off the market and when windows 7 comes into the market. They'll sell XP until windows 7 comes out i believe.
