Default backlinks, good amount?

Hi

Link experts... what is a good number of backlinks to have, and how can this be evaluated. Do you consider 100, or 1000 to be a good number, or is more like 10k or 100k considered a good number? I'm having trouble grasping this concept.

You could have as many backlinks as you would like. The more, the better. Some people say don't get them too fast or the search engines may think that you are a spammer. I am not sure if there is a limit of links to get daily.
I never had a problem with that. And chances are, if you are not a spammer, you can try to get as many backlinks as you can get and still fall short of the red flag number that would alarm search engines.

I say just get as many as you can, don't spam, but don't set your limit at any number or your site may eventually stop growing. The more the merrier.

I noticed increase in traffic around 100 and it seems that every 1000 or so after shows an increase in traffic but if you stop linking the traffic seems to stagnate so keep on with the backlinks as long as you can.

there are no limitations in doing link building... so the decision about how many links is up to you

From an SEO point of view - 100 quality and strong backlinks is better than 1,000 random links.

From a marketing stand point - the more links you have, the more exposure you get.

Research how many your competitors have and from what quality sources they are getting them from and then get more for your website. This is industry dependent. If you’re selling blue widgets with ultrasonic red whatchamacallits you won’t need as many quality back links as a home loan website.
