Default Best Gfx Program

What is the best graphics program? To me hands down it would have to be photoshop. Although it is a bit expensive.

Any tool can produce remarkable results, but it depends on who is using it. Photoshop has various tools to make life easier. From it, even a novice can look like a professional, but only to a layman. Photoshop IS quite expensive and i won't recommend purchasing it if you're not serious about using it to build your career or part of it.

I personally use GIMP. Multiple windows in GIMP does make things a bit awkward to work with, but i've become used to it.

As Orion said, it really does depend on the user of the software. Many people use a crack on Photoshop anyways, so I guess price isn't an issue to most.

I'm not really into making graphics, I've mastered the coding part of webdesign and I'm not really in the mood to create graphics.

Alternatively, the open source image editors like GIMP and Paint.net are available if budget is a constraint in acquiring a licensed copy of Photoshop. They are good image editors in the absence of Photoshop.

I use PaintShop Pro. It is not as expensive as Photoshop and satisfy most of my graphic design and image editing needs.
I paid about $100 for it about 3 years ago.

I recommend Photoshop CS2, due to all the features it has. It can be very expensive, but for my opinion it's worth it. I also like it because many users use this program, especially has a great set of brushes that can be found on DeviantARt.com

Photoshop the best, of course. I think the answer of this question is pretty obvious in most of the webmaster/web design forums. Probably, in other forums, you will find out other people use many unknown applications to do their graphics.

It can be very complicated and expensive, I agree, but you have tons of sites where you can find good tutorials to learn from and if you buy it, I'm completely sure you won't regret, Photoshop is a great graphic application.
