The most powerful software is Adobe Photoshop. GIMP or even Paint Shop Pro can do anything about this, and now that there is coming new much better CS3 version of Photoshop - Photoshop is unbeatable.

I dont know about the others but photoshop CS2 is my favourite one. I am not master of it but I can work with it.

I've been using CS2 for a year (the company provided me the tool). But with the features previewed on Adobe, I'm surely going to ask the company to upgrade. I thought faking 3D in CS2 is great, but faking 3D in CS3 is even greater.
