Default Why Google don't like paid backlinks?

Hello, as I am not so old to this, I like to ask why did Google hate paid backlinks.
And how does Google know if the link has been paid for?

I am sorry if I not able to put my question more correctly because I am new.

Thanks for your time

Hi,

I think Google already has the web address of the directories and can realize if a link is paid for or not.

If the link is relevent to the site content, it has less likelihood of being paid. Also, many sites have advertising pages that mention paid link inclusion. You just have to know the ways around google

"Google" doesn't mind paid links at all when they are done for the right reasons. What they are trying to combat is paid links that are bought solely for the purposes of manipulating PR and SERP positions.

Exactly, this is why they recommend the use of nofollow tag if you are selling paid links. However problem with that is, majority of the people wouldn’t buy links from you, if you mark them as nofollow.

Paid links are just fine. Links like these should be nofollow - so as not to manipulate PR.

Otherwise, you get a slapping from Google if they find out about it

not all paid links are bad.. but in most cases, they are used to manipulate rankings by those who are in great need or the desperate ones
