I look at the referring sites and google keywords when my sites have a jump in traffic. I usually identify the cause and remember to do it again and again. Sometimes I take a look at the number of adsense impression when my traffic rises thanks to a specific referal site. Like that I can find out which site provides more profitable traffic.
