Once you understand slicing it will be second nature to you. Think about how the functionality of the site will be. If there is an area of the site that will hold content, make the content area a single slice and the border and rest of the area seperate slices. Make the header a slice. Just think about how the code will work with it. Make sure to try to keep it neat and make the slices aligned.
